The competition was tough for the first SHRED event, and we still can’t imagine how our judges managed to pick just one winner per category out of 76 entries. The participation blew us away, and every piece of art submitted was totally radical. Our silent auction of the prints (benefiting Access Aquarium) raised over $700! The generosity and enthusiasm of the attendees who purchased those prints is humbling and exciting, and proof of the quality of work that was submitted for SHRED.
If you entered, thank you! If you attended the SHRED event on August 22, thank you! Heck, if you’re reading this blog post, thank you—our members, volunteers, and artists are stoked about this entire process. The Hampton Roads design community is amazing, and you proved it big time. We wish we could have rewarded everyone, but that’s not how competition works. Congratulations to our winners!

Fear not, skate punks and surfers, SHRED is looking to make a comeback next summer! The competition is bound to heat up, so start thinking about your designs now.
